Sri Lankans in Canada help armed forces welfare projects
Sri Lankans living in Canada have donated over 40,000 Canadian dollars to welfare projects of Sri Lankan armed forces. Consul General for Sri Lanka in Toronto, Bandula Jayasekara reveled the fact when he called on Army Commander Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka at the Army HQ today (Apr 8).

He also assured the Army Chief of the support and cooperation of the Sri Lankans living in Greater Toronto Area and Canada to the Armed forces. He said not only the Sri Lankans of all ethnicities living in Greater Toronto area, but also the Canadian Tamils have contributed to the donation.

General Sarath Fonseka briefed the Consul General on the success of the Humanitarian Operation carried out by the Security Forces, to liberate innocent Sri Lankan Tamils from LTTE terrorists. The Army Commander requested the Consul General to thank all patriotic Sri Lankans living in Greater Toronto Area, including Sri Lankan and Canadian Tamils who stand up against the LTTE.
